Adding Chords to Melodiy Notes

Top  Previous  Next

Adding chords (in the musical sense) to melody notes involves:

1) switching to Chords mode,

2) typing in the chord,

3) switching back to Melody mode

4) copying the keyboard to the chord table

For example, suppose we are in Melody mode and just entered the first note of this musical line (D) and now we want to add the Gm7 chord to the keyboard.

There are two ways to accomplish the four steps:

Method 1 -

manual copy to chords table ( not the fastest method )

step 2: type the desired chord

step3: switch back to Melody mode

step 4: copy the keyboard to the chords table

Since the above four steps are repeated over and over when entering full songs (see The Best Way to Enter Full Songs), a faster way to switch to Chords mode, one that signals the program to automatically copy the resulting keyboard to the chord table when returning to Melody mode, is to click on the window that displays chord names.

Method 2 -

The automatic signal to the melody mode to copy the keyboard to the chords table is canceled if any operation other than selecting chords is performed in Chords mode.  For example, if when in Chords mode you switch to Table mode, then when returning to Melody mode you will have to use the Copy button to copy the keyboard to the chords table.
