Manual Recording of Rhythm

Top  Previous  Next

There is an alternate way to enter the rhythm of a song.  Instead of using the rhythmic values of the written music, you can simply record the rhythm by stepping through the song while in "recording mode".  This method assumes that you know the song, otherwise you could not do it without assistance from the written music.

The following steps assume you have entered the chords and melody notes of the song you want to record the rhythm.

Step 1:  click on the record button 1447_5

the program jumps to the beginning of the recording range (see below) and waits for you to start recording.  Notice how the buttons change color.

If a range of chords in the chords table is identified with the tab keys, then the recording range is that range of chords.  Otherwise the recording range is the entire song beginning with the first chord.

Step 2:  start recording by clicking on the record button 1447_7

Every time the recording button is pressed, the program computes the amount of time elapsed since the last time the button was pressed and marks the rhythm for the chord accordingly.  The chord may or may not contain a melody note.  When manually recording rhythm all that matters is the rhythm of your clicking on the record button.

Step 3:  stop recording by clicking on the stop button 1447_8

the player reverts to standby mode.

When the rhythm of a range of chords is manually recorded as described above, each chord shows 1447_10 to indicate its rhythm was manually recorded.
