As of FastChords version 3.0, the best way to play songs is with the Player Mode which allows entering the correct rhythmic values for notes. This section describes how to play songs in the Table mode.
Songs are played on the computer speakers in Table mode. The program switches to that mode every time a song is loaded from disk. For this section, load the "Indiana.crd" file from disk. To play all chords of the song do:
Step 1: turn sound ON (see Turning Sound ON and OFF).
Step 2: click the top button, , this will play the first chord.
step 3: click repeatedly the play the next chord button, .
The first chord played is always the current chord. So it is possible to start playing from any chord, just make current chord by clicking on it.
In Table mode you are the one that supplies the rhythm with the frequency of your mouse clicks. For songs you are familiar with this is very easy, it just happens naturally, for songs you are unfamiliar with it is almost impossible without also entering the note durations in the Player mode. On the other hand, it often happens that playing a song that you don't recognize by name makes it become recognizable, so the rhythm is easy to pick up after that.
If you don't recognize any of the sample songs installed by FastChords' installation program, then simply create your own song based on what you've learned so far. Don't forget to save your song to disk.
The button is not the only way to play sequential chords, pressing the Space Bar has the same effect.
When the last chord is played, continuing to click the button (or the Space Bar) wraps around to the first chord again.
It is also possible to play just a range of chords. See Selecting a Range of Chords. If you are playing a range, then when playing reaches the last chord of the range, the program wraps around to the first chord of the range.
