Selecting a range of frames enables several tasks, such as:

Bullet copy a group of chords from one place in the chord table to another.

Bullet copy/paste a group of chords from one song to another.

Bullet delete a group of chords.

Bullet listen, repeatedly, to the sound of a group of chords.

Bullet perform several operations only on the selected chords.  See Operations on Selected Chords.

To select a group of chords, use the tag 1398_2 buttons:

step 1:  select the first chord in the range, click tag 1.

step 2: select the last chord in the range, click tag 2.

As the tag 1 and 2 buttons are used to select a range of chords, two things happen:

1 - the buttons change color to indicate which of the two still needs to be used to complete a range.

2 - the last field in the title bar of the corresponding chords in the chord table also changes color to indicate the chord is part of a selection range.

For example, for a range of three chords:

step 1: click on the first chord of the desired range to make it the current chord, then click on the tag 1 button.

The tag 1 button changes color to indicate it is being used:

Because a complete range is still not defined, the two buttons that apply to ranges remain disabled (i.e. "fuzzy").

step 2: click on the last chord of the desired range to make it the current chord, then click on the tag 2 button.

The tag 2 button changes color to indicate it is being used:

Because a complete range is now defined, the two buttons that apply to ranges become enabled.

The tag 1 and tag 2 buttons can be used in any order.  The first chord in the range can be tagged with the tag 2 buttons and the last with the tag 1 button, and the range will still be valid.

Another way to tag a range of frames is to press the Control key as you click on a chord in the chord table.  The first chord clicked while pressing the Control key becomes the first chord of the range, the second chord clicked becomes the last.

The only way to clear (unselect) tagged chords is to use the 1398_11 button.

The two other buttons related to selected ranges are:

1398_9

Inserts the selected range immediately before the current chord.

1398_10

Inserts the selected range immediately after the current chord.

Another way to insert a selected range is to use the menu commands Edit > Copy to save the range to the clipboard, and Edit > Paste to insert the range immediately before the current chord.

The Edit > Copy and Edit > Paste menu options are the only way to copy a range of chords from one song to another (in a different song file).  First select the desired range and save it to the clipboard with the Edit > Copy command, then load the second song file and use the Edit > Paste command.
