Once the melody notes -- and blank chords for rest -- are in place, it is time to enter the chords. This is done by advancing in melody mode to the next melody note that has a chord in the written music, switching to Chords mode in a special way, entering the chord and returning to Melody mode. Continuing with our example::

Our song so far (which should have been saved after the first step was completed), looks like this:

Beginning in Melody Mode follow these steps:

Step 1: Click on the Top button to go to the first chord of the song. In this case the first melody note has a chord - C(add9) -, to switch to Chords mode to enter this chord do ...

Step 2: Click on the chord name window. This special way to go to Chords mode from Melody mode tells the program that the next time the Melody mode is entered, whatever the status of the keyboard, copy this keyboard to the current chord in the chord table. Presumably the keyboard will contain your melody note plus the chord you enter in Chords mode.

Step 3: In Chords mode enter the chord, then switch back to Melody mode by clicking either
on the button, or on the chord name window. This will copy the keyboard, now containing the original melody note and the C(add9) chord, to the current chord in the chord table which previously contained just the melody note.

Step 4: Back in Melody mode click on the down arrow to advance to the next melody note showing a chord symbol on top of it (Dmi7/G in our example).
...and so forth, repeat steps 1 - 4 to enter all the chords of the song. Save the result to disk.

If you forget to click on the chord name window in step 2 to go to Chords mode, then when you return to Melody mode the keyboard will not be copied to the current chord. If that case use the Copy button to manually effect the same result.

When you are done with all chords what you have is this, notice the absence of rhythmic values, all notes have a quarter value by default:

,Adding rhythm is the last step of the process.

Turning sound ON during this whole process helps with audio clues to guide you.
